Multidisciplinary teams of wound healing clinical research experts are available at locations throughout western Pennsylvania. Our clinical sites provide individualized care to patients who are suffering from chronic or difficult-to-heal wounds. Our multidisciplinary approach combines the expertise of internal medicine and infectious disease specialists; vascular, orthopaedic, and plastic surgeons; and podiatrists All of these sites offer an integrated, patient-centered approach to nonhealing wounds.

UPMC Wound Healing Services at UPMC Passavant offers hyperbaric oxygen therapy for certain wounds, a non-invasive treatment option that can promote healing.

UPMC Wound Healing Services at UPMC Mercy takes a team-based approach to wound care. Our experts specialize in orthopaedic, vascular, plastic, and general surgery as well as podiatry and internal medicine, and all have experience in helping patients with chronic or difficult to heal wounds. In addition, UPMC Wound Healing Services at UPMC Mercy is a Limb Preservation Center of Excellence. We pride ourselves on providing highly effective care to patients with foot and leg wounds caused by diabetes or other conditions.

In addition, a registered nurse specializing in wound care assesses and monitors the patient’s care. The nurse also provides continuing education regarding medications, wound care, and lifestyle changes.
